Ps 119:9-16
– 9 How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Your word. 10 With all my heart I have sought You; Do not let me wander from Your commandments. 11 Your word I have treasured in my heart, that I may not sin against You. 12 Blessed are You, O Lord; Teach me Your statutes. 13 With my lips I have told of all the ordinances of Your mouth. 14 I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, as much as in all riches. 15 I will meditate on Your precepts and regard Your ways. 16 I will delight in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word.
Jesus Christ said in John 15:7
, “If you abide in Me and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” WOW! Wouldn’t you like to be able to pray and receive back from God “whatever you wish?” That is the promise for the person who “abides” in Christ. So what does that mean? How do we live in constant relationship with Jesus? The secret is in a spiritual discipline – Scripture memory. I hope you will join the thousands of godly people who are committing to hide God’s Word in their hearts. I hope you will join me as I try to hide the Holy Scripture in my heart so that I may not sin against God. It is worth the effort!

Spiritual warfare is a daily, constant struggle for those who want to live godly in Christ Jesus (2 Tim 3:12
). Thankfully, God has given us powerful weapons for destroying the enemy, which many times is our own flesh. There is a SECRET to victory in spiritual warfare. Jesus taught it to us Himself. Come study the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit in Ephesians 6:17
to find out how to live in victory over sin.

Although Scripture commands us to get mad about some things, anger is a powerful and corruptive force in the human heart. It is no coincidence that there is one exhortation and three prohibitions in these two verses. Anger must be controlled by the Spirit of God and not begin to control us. Follow along as we continue to examine four characteristics of righteous anger.
Our view of Scripture determines everything else we believe about God, truth, salvation, history, science and everything else in life. It is the great battle of Satan since the Garden of Eden to destroy our confidence in the absolute truthfulness of God’s Word. From the beginning, he tempted Even with this statement, “Has God said…?” Satan’s primary goal in leading people astray is to convince them that God’s Word is something less than totally true and trustworthy in every single word. Therefore, the inspiration and inerrancy of Scripture is a foundational doctrine of Christian teaching. To combat the rising skepticism of the time, several hundred evangelical scholars came together in 1978 to draft the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy and to give unity among evangelicals around this crucial doctrine.
The “Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy” was produced at an international Summit Conference of evangelical leaders, held at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Chicago in the fall of 1978. This congress was sponsored by the International Council on Biblical Inerrancy. The Chicago Statement was signed by nearly 300 noted evangelical scholars, including James Boice, Norman L. Geisler, John Gerstner, Carl F. H. Henry, Kenneth Kantzer, Harold Lindsell, John Warwick Montgomery, Roger Nicole, J. I. Packer, Robert Preus, Earl Radmacher, Francis Schaeffer, R. C. Sproul, and John Wenham.
I have included the full statement with explanation here, as well as another document that I wrote about Jesus’ view of inerrancy. I hope you will master these truths, because without them, you will not even be able to share the gospel in light of the objection, “How do you really know that Scripture is true?” It is a valid question for which every Christian must have a ready defense (1 Pet 3:15
).
Chris Tomlin sings a great song called Enough with the following lyrics:
All of You is more than enough for all of me
For every thirst and every need
You satisfy me with Your love
And all I have in You is more than enough
How true it is that our Savior is far more than we will ever need and satisfies our every desire! However, it is not only the Living Word (in the person of Jesus Christ) that is sufficient, but also the written Word (in the holy Scriptures). An adequate view of the sufficiency of Scripture for EVERY area of life is noticably absent among Christians today. Many seek for counsel in self-help books, pop psychology, CEO leadership principles, human reason and church tradition before they seek for the wisdom of God in Scripture. This message seeks to restore a solid trust in the Word of God for ALL matters of faith and practice by examining eight areas of Scriptural sufficiency.

Many of you have asked me about a Bible reading plan to use. I have been using a yearly reading plan for several years now that I really enjoy. It has several benefits. First of all, you read through the Bible once each year, which is a discipline that I believe EVERY Christian should cultivate. Second, this plan only has you reading in two places at a time, so you get larger portions of Scripture. Third, this plan has only 25 readings per month, which means that you get 5-6 days of ‘grace’ each month. That way if you miss a day here and there, you don’t get behind, then get discouraged and give up. Also, it is one page front and back and is designed to be folded in half and placed inside your Bible, so you have with you when you need it.
In addition to that, for those of you wanting new vision and fire from God, I have included a reading plan I created that gets you through the New Testament in either 30 or 60 days. Sounds daunting, but its really not. In fact, I read through the NT every month for about 6 months and was AMAZED at how much God used it to teach me, encourage me, strengthen me, love me and at times rebuke me! It was incredible and I highly recommend trying this for at least one month, maybe during April before the Easter season or during December when we remember Christ’s birth. May God’s Word make you “adequate, equipped for every good work” (2 Tim 3:17
) in the pursuit of His glory!
