This is the second message dealing with spiritual state of America.  The main focus must now be abouting returning to God wholeheartedly.  How do we do that?   What can the church of Jesus Christ do in a culture that has been abandoned by God?  God’s answer to that question has always been the same, whether it was to Israel, to Nineveh, or to America today God has not changed, His ways have not changed, and the way we return to Him after sinning has not changed, whether that sin be individual, corporate or both.  We look at five ways to return to God: true repentance, cleansing prayer, whole-hearted surrender, the essential priorities of New Testament church life, and radical holiness.  There may not be hope for our nation, but there is always hope for the remnant of Jesus Christ that cry out to Him with a pure heart.  Our churches can and will experience the power of Christ as we follow Him in the ways He has prescribed in His Word.  Join us on the journey back to unconditional surrender and unparalled joy in walking with God.

What is the spiritual state of America? Is God judging us as a nation? What is the overall state of our churches? These are all questions which Scripture can answer definitively for us. This message is my State of the Union Address regarding the spiritual state of America its people, culture and churches. It is a humble and brief attempt to answer three questions regarding the spiritual state of America: 1) Where are we? 2) How did we get here? 3) How do we return to God?

I have been studying and praying about this message for years. I was not able to preach it all in one sermon, so I will finish next week with the third and final point. It examines the signs of moral, social and spiritual decay, both in society and our churches. It examines both statistical trends and biblical patterns of divine blessing and judgment. I have been greatly influenced by several men in this regard, notably John MacArthur and Gregory Frizzell. Their insight have helped me put the pieces together in discerning God’s dealing with our country and knowing how to respond as the church of Jesus Christ.

Let me warn you this message is not for the weak-hearted. In my flesh I did not want to preach it. Yet God has not called to tickle ears, but to proclaim divine truth (2 Tim 3:14-4:5).

Ezekiel 33:6-7 – 6 But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet and the people are not warned, and a sword comes and takes a person from them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood I will require from the watchman’s hand.’ 7 “Now as for you, son of man, I have appointed you a watchman for the house of Israel; so you will hear a message from My mouth and give them warning from Me.
